In this busy and hectic lifestyle that a lot of us women now have, it’s easy to forget to take care of ourselves and lead a balanced, healthy lifestyle. Whether you are a student, a working woman, a mother or anything in between, life has its unique challenges that often result to self-neglect because of other priorities.
I believe that I’m not alone when I say that I definitely want more “me” time where I can have sufficient time to pamper myself and engage in other activities that will nurture my mind, body and soul. And it’s great to know that a big brand out there understands this issue among women.
Dove launches new Body Wash with Nutrium Moisture
Dove® Body Wash with NutriumMoisture™ has recently launched the Dove Skindulgence campaign as a solution to encourage women to indulge and pamper themselves on a daily basis in less time and with less money. What better news, this can be done in the comfort of their own home.
In a survey conducted by Millward Brown last year, commissioned by Dove® Body Wash, among 108 women aged between 18-35, time and money are the biggest obstacles in pampering oneself on a regular basis. To this, I truly agree. I can’t even find the right time to cut my hair before it gets too long or have time for spa. Moreover, it can be quite costly to go for spa regularly. Being a working mother, my family and my job are my priorities versus spending time for myself. I probably spend 1 and ½ hours on myself daily but these are mainly to fulfill necessities such as bathing, skincare routine and applying makeup to go to work. If I have some time, I would spend another half hour on a weekend to redo my pedicure by myself. Those pretty much cover my “me” time.

I was lucky to be invited to Dove Skindulgence campaign launch last week and discover ways to pamper myself. Dove has launched the School of Skindulgence (S.O.S.) Facebook Campaign where we are encouraged to take a pledge to love ourselves, eat right, and stay active through simple no-hassle, no fuss, inexpensive activities that we can do at home for ourselves.
Skindulgence is a simple routine that can be done at home. All you need is to follow these 3 pillars:
Pillar #1 – EAT RIGHT
Skindulgence Advice/ Pillar #1: EAT RIGHT
It doesn’t have to be a complicated diet where you need to quickly change the way you enjoy food. Take one step at a time. For example, instead of your usual lunch or dinner with rice and carbohydrate-rich food, maybe you can opt for a garden salad once or twice a week. And instead of having your carbonated drink, switch to fruit juice or milk every few days. It can be small change but these are still steps forward to a better you!
Pillar #2 – STAY ACTIVE
Skindulgence Advice/ Pillar #2: STAY ACTIVE
Don’t panic! You can stay active with simple activities; you don’t need to go to the gym regularly or compete in a marathon! Chill. That’s the point of this campaign: indulge and pamper yourself with less time and less money, and doing simple routines. Staying active can be as easy as walking up the stairs instead of taking the lift. Yeah, I know; if your condo unit is at the 10th floor then it’s not very easy. Maybe you can take the lift up to the 5th floor then walk from there. Or if it’s not very safe, do a simple morning routine of jumping jacks. This one gets me energized during the day.
During Dove’s Skindulgence launch, all the guests were divided into 3 groups: A, B and C. Each group was tasked to undergo a certain pillar. I was with the “Stay Active” group and an instructor gave us tips on how to perform quick routines, especially when we’re at work. Those were simple neck, shoulder, hip and leg exercises. It’s amazing how small things can make a big difference.
At home, maybe you can start with some short exercises every few days if daily is too much for you. Pick up the pace then you’ll eventually have more regular time doing it!

Pillar #3 – LOVE YOURSELF
Skindulgence Advice/ Pillar #3: LOVE YOURSELF
I think this is the most crucial pillar among the three and this is where it all starts. If we don’t love ourselves, how can we have the desire to do the other pillars? Loving oneself is the foundation of what every person should be. Recognizing our own worth, our value, will give meaning to our life. Let’s not neglect ourselves and let’s not feel guilty when we allot some time to treasure who we are. The beauty of Dove’s Skindulgence campaign is that it reminds us to engage into quick but meaningful activities that nurture our wellbeing.
Since a lot of us don’t have much time or money to regularly go to a spa, Dove has introduced the new Dove® Body Wash. Your “better-than-milk-routine” is proven to be better than milk and all you need is just one or two pumps of Dove with NutriumMoisture™ to deliver moisture and nourishment deeply to give your skin the pampering it needs. Showering with regular body washes that do not contain nourishing ingredients can cause dry skin damage as they strip the skin of its natural moisture. Dove® has discovered how to effectively nourish skin in the shower during cleansing. Instead of skin feeling dry and tight once you step out of the shower, you are left with nourished and moisturised skin, just as if you went for a spa treatment.
The new Dove Body Wash in 6 variants
NutriumMoisture™ technology is available in all variants – Beauty Nourishing, Gentle Exfoliating, Sensitive Skin, Fresh Touch, Energize and Revive in 1 litre bottles at RM22.90. It is also available in 200ml at RM5.90 for the Beauty Nourishing and Gentle Exfoliating variant. The body washes are available at all leading pharmacies, hypermarkets and supermarkets.
The first thing (or person) that came into my mind when I heard the phrase “better than milk” at Dove’s launch was Queen Cleopatra. Who else is known to bathe in milk across the world and across time? I’m sure you’ve heard of Queen C’s amazing bath routine of soaking herself in tub of fresh milk to keep her skin beautiful and healthy. It’s no surprise that milk can do this to the skin; after all, milk is still the best nourishment for us when we were babies. Good health reflects good skin!
Queen Cleopatra and milk bath routine
And speaking of Queen Cleopatra, she is also an embodiment of the 3 pillars of Dove’s campaign. Queen Cleo, one of the most beautiful women who walked the earth, kept herself rejuvenated and healthy by eating right, staying active and, of course, loving herself. More than that, she’s also an intelligent, powerful and amazing woman who has influenced a lot of powerful men during her time. Now, that’s girl power.
Do you need to be a queen to indulge and pamper yourself? Well, with Dove® Body Wash, you can feel like one! The scent is invigorating and can truly relax your senses. When the Dove girls performed an actual test during the event, water versus milk versus Dove, the moisture meter showed that the moisture content on the skin is at its best when washed with Dove. No trick here because you will feel the transformation yourself.
