Zoeva and Luscious Lipsticks to Get that Girl-Next-Door Look

It’s amazing how a dash of color on a woman’s lips changes her personality and appeal.

I’m getting more addicted with using different lip products and different colors these days. In one day, I’d probably use 2-3 different brands and shades of lipsticks at work: one in the morning before I go, another one right before stepping out of the car and a third one when I retouch after lunch time. I find it fun and stylish to be shifting lip colors through the day!
I have a collection of lip colors that I mainly use for my office look but there are times when I want to have that simple, innocent look (so I don’t look like that tough monster all the time at work, haha!).
I love shopping at Luxola and I had a fun time choosing 3 lipsticks to try and to achieve a girl-next-door look. I picked 3 different shades from light pink to vibrant red. And I was also excited to try 2 brands of lip color that I haven’t tried before: Luscious Cosmetics and Zoeva. I’ve tried Zoeva brushes and I loved them so I decided to try its Lip Crayon.
The Zoeva Lip Crayon comes in a black matte box and the lip crayon stick comes in a black matte finish with silver text letterings. The lip color shade is visible at one end so it’s easy to identify even with the cap on.

Color: Tender Rose
Lipstick Pencil
Made in Germany
2.8g / 0.10oz
Price: RM34.00
What is it:
The ZOEVA Lip Crayon is a chunky lipstick pencil with a super light and creamy formula. It gives your lips sharp colour and a fine shiny finish. This product is also very smooth, as it melts naturally like butter on your lips for a visibly soft and plump effect.

What makes it great:
This lip product contains Vitamin E and Jojoba Oil, making the lips smoother, plumped and moisturized.

The downside to this crayon is that it’s not the twist up type. You need to use a sharpener for this one.

luxola-zoeva-lip-crayon-product review
The texture of this crayon is amazing. It’s so easy to apply, it glides smoothly on the lips on its own. I normally use lip balm with some other lipsticks but with this Zoeva lip crayon, I’m good to go without balm. It also has a soft sheen finish, giving you an overall fresh look. With light makeup, I can easily have a girl-next-door look. Adding a hair accessory like this Sereni and Shentel thin headband makes it even sweeter.

I also decided to try this brand, Luscious Cosmetics, as it has an interesting name and the shades are fashionable. This Signature Lipstick comes in a combination black and silver tube, with the color visible on the base, like Zoeva Lip Crayon.

Color: Buff Pink
Made in USA
4g / 0.14oz
Price: RM57.00
What is it:
The Luscious Signature Lipstick Collection provides the lips with lightweight, vibrant colour. Each lippie in infused with nourishing oils that make the formula feel moisturising. It also offers a velvety finish that makes your lips look and feel rich.
What makes it great:
This lip product contains jojoba oil that keeps the lips well-moisturized. It feels lightweight on the lips while giving a velvety finish.

The texture is good and color is buildable. If you want a very light touch of color, you can apply 1 swipe. I, however, prefer a deeper shade so I apply 2-3 swipes then blot my lips over folded tissue. It has a darker color than Zoeva Lip Crayon but it still gives me that girl-next-door look. Combined with a white plain headband, my look is complete, voila!

And who said that dark, rich red lipstick won’t give you a sugar-spice-and-everything-nice appeal?
I was happy to give this Luscious Super Moisturizing Lipstick a try. The shade I picked is sexily named ‘Flirty Fuschia’, and it comes in a sleek silver tube. Nudes dominate the full color collection and I picked one of the deepest colors.

Color: Flirty Fuschia
Made in Taiwan
3.5g / 0.12oz
Price: RM51.50
What is it:
The Luscious’ Super Moisturizing Lipstick gives colour and luster to your delicate pucker with its creamy and moisturizing formula enriched with Vitamin E and Grape Seed Oil.
What makes it great:
This lip product contains Vitamin E and Grape Seed oil to keep lips moisturized and supple.

The texture is great and like the other Luscious lipstick, the color is also buildable. Because it contains Vitamin E and Grape Seed oil, this lipstick feels smooth and comfortable on the lips.
Yes, the color might seem too sexy for a girl-next-door look but with light eye makeup and right accessories, this shade can be sweet and dandy. Here is the flirty fuschia paired with my red Sereni and Shentel headband.

I love these 3 new lipsticks and I find it amazing how I can change my look with different lipstick shades.  Do you switch lip colors throughout the day? Give it a try and explore how your lip colors change your mood, your look and your appeal!

SK-II Pitera Facial Essence Product Review

I finally took the step to test this bestselling beauty product…why is this so popular and is it worth it?

Since I arrived in Malaysia 5 years ago, SK-II has been one of the most prominent skincare brands in this country. I wasn’t really familiar with this brand before as it is not available in the Philippines, at least not before I left. The brand has such strong marketing presence and highly influential brand ambassadors that included Cate Blanchett. Oh, who doesn’t admire Cate, with her timeless beauty, grace and impeccable sense of fashion?
Of course, I admit that I got interested to try the brand, mainly because of its Facial Essence. It promises skin transformation in 14 days, making spots less visible, appearance of wrinkles reduced, and making the skin radiant. I bought a Pitera Essence set for my mother-in-law before and I noticed a remarkable improvement on the radiance of her skin. After finishing that first set, I bought a second set for her and bought one for myself, too.

Made in Japan
Price: RM229
Where to buy:
SK-II counters in major department stores – Isetan, Parkson, Metrojaya, Aeon
Sephora boutiques
SK-II Pitera Essence Set contains:
SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion 30ml
How to use – After cleansing the skin, pour an appropriate amount (approximately 3 cm diameter) of Clear Lotion onto cotton pad. Gently wipe over T-zone, followed by U-zone from center outwards, then over neck.
SK-II Facial Treatment Essence 75ml
How to use – After toning the skin, pour an appropriate amount (slightly larger than the diameter of the cap) of Essence onto cotton pad. Gently pat onto face and neck.
SK-II Facial Treatment Mask 1pc
How to use – Place mask over eye area first, then gently spread over face and pat firm. Remove mask after 5-15 minutes. Discard mask after use.
I’ve used up the Clear Lotion and the Treatment Mask. These are both good products although it’s hard for me to fully evaluate, as the size of the lotion may not have been enough to show results while the 1-piece mask does give that instant hydration effect after use.
As for the Facial Essence, I’ve been using it for 3 months now. I’m not a big fan of the scent of the essence itself but it dissipates in a few seconds anyway so it’s not a big deal. The essence is water-like both in color and viscosity. It feels clean and light, easily absorbed by the skin.
After first 2 weeks of use, it’s sad to say that I didn’t notice much change on my skin. I know that a skincare product’s speed of efficacy may vary from person to person, and this doesn’t necessarily mean that the product is not working so I patiently continued to use it. After 1 month, I did notice that my skin’s texture and radiance have improved. And on my 2nd month of use, I noticed that spots are diminishing, although not completely gone.
I’ve seen good results but somehow on my third month, it’s just on ‘maintenance’ phase, as I don’t notice improvements anymore. I also find that the progress of results took longer than expected or as promised. I’m happy that my skin improved, especially with the diminished spots, however, I expected better. Considering that SK-II is probably the top brand in the country and that it’s mid-priced, I thought that results will be amazing or surprising, within at least a month. I find that it took long to see changes from the Facial Essence. Will I buy it again? Hmmm, I’d probably try something else with my RM229.
About the product
SK-II’s signature product, the much-loved and most awarded bestseller, Facial Treatment Essence has over 90% Pitera™, the miracle ingredient discovered over 30 years ago that remains essentially unchanged till today. Its irreplaceable formula gently exfoliates the face and helps moderate the skin surface renewal cycle.

In just 14 days, your skin’s 5 dimensions are visibly transformed: spots are less visible, appearance of wrinkles is reduced, skin texture is more refined, firmnessis improved, and radiance is beautifully elevated. Skin becomes breathtakingly crystal clear.

Texture: This lightweight miracle water is quickly absorbed into the skin.

Key Ingredient: Pitera™ is full of vitamins, amino acids, minerals and organic acids that work together to allow the skin’s natural surface rejuvenation process to function at its prime.
Other Ingredients: Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Water, Sodium Benzoate, Methylparaben, Sorbic Acid.

Olay Regenerist Advanced Cleansing System

Some of us might not have the budget for a Clarisonic…but, hey, what about this one?

For the past years, I’m sure you have witnessed the popularity of facial cleansing devices, dominated by best-selling brand Clarisonic. It took a while before beauty brands recognized the strong potential from this new beauty segment but it wasn’t too late for brands like Clinique and Olay to jump in the beauty device wagon.
While I think that Clarisonic is a worthy investment for good facial cleansing system, not everyone would have a budget of RM600+ to enjoy the benefits of a cleansing device. I wasn’t highly keen on trying out a cleansing device before but while shopping online at www.watsons.com.my, I received a free Olay Regenerist Advanced Cleansing System (worth around RM129) together with my purchase of RM150 of selected brands. I love online shopping and I love free stuff!

This facial cleansing device set comes in Olay’s black and red box. The box set contains: 1 facial cleansing device, 1 brush head, 1 skin renewal cleanser 20ml and 2 AA batteries.
Benefits of Olay Regenerist Cleansing System:
  • Up to 4x better cleansing than cleanser alone (tested on removing makeup vs. cleanser alone)
  • Gently exfoliates
  • Delivers daily deep cleansing
  • Renewal Cleanser primes the skin for anti-aging regimen
  • Device has 2-speed control, is water-resistant and easy to hold

What results to expect:
  • Skin is instantly cleaner, feels fresher
  • Skin texture is improved and smoother with continuous use

I like that Duracell batteries are already included in this boxed set. Don’t you just hate it when you discover that you need batteries for something you just bought or received? It’s also easy to install the 2 batteries on the device. Gently rock the battery compartment (on the base) side to side while pulling to release battery cover. Then insert the 2 batteries and push back the cover. Reminder, do not mix old and new batteries.

The device has 2 rubber buttons, 1 to switch it on or off and 1 to control speed. I prefer to use basic speed versus the faster one but this will depend on your personal preference.

This set comes with 1 brush head, which is easy to snap onto the device. It is recommended to replace the brush head every 3 months. I haven’t replaced mine after more than 3 months, haha, but it still works fine and, don’t worry, the brush head is not disgusting or dirty-looking (yet).
A 20ml skin renewal cleanser is packed inside this set but you don’t necessarily need to use it together with the device. We all have our preferred cleanser so feel free to use the device with your favorite brand. I have a habit of trying new brands and products every now and then. I’ve used the Olay Cleansing Device with different brands like Garnier, Neutrogena and Shizens.

For the past 6 months, I’ve been using this device every evening to cleanse my face. Initially, I tried using it day and night but I developed a few pimples, around 2-3 (oh yes, I will count them coz I rarely get these!), so I decided to slow down and use it at night only. For someone who has not tried cleansing devices before, it probably ‘surprised’ my skin. When I limited use to once a day, the pimples stopped, yay! And the fun starts.
My skin does feel instantly cleaner, in a different way than it feels with normal deep cleansing without a device. And though it’s not Clarisonic, I’d say it does a good job in complementing my skin-cleansing regimen. So if you want to start exploring facial cleansing devices and you’re on a tight budget, the Olay Regenerist Advanced Cleansing System is good bet.
Replacement cleansing brush heads are available at www.watsons.com.my – RM29.90 for a boxed set of 2 pieces

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush Review

How do you apply your liquid foundation? If you’re still using fingertips, you might want to consider trying this makeup tool.

I can’t live without liquid foundation…seriously. I’d probably melt and disappear on-the-spot if I go to work or go out without liquid foundation on my face. I’m not comfortable with the appearance of my pores and I need my face to have light to medium coverage. I don’t really go for heavy foundation as it can feel very thick on the face but with the right foundation and brush, I’ll be happy.

I used to apply foundation with fingertips before. It was fine, a lot of foundation products nowadays are very easy to blend and apply. But when you aspire for flawless, almost perfect application like how makeup artists do makeup, using a brush is the best way.
I first encountered Real Techniques makeup tools via Luxola and I liked the stylish look of the handle. It’s not the typical black and silver combination; this one is in gold and black. I also liked the imprinted brush model on the handle so I don’t need to recall which brush I have or don’t have for my next purchase.

Price: RM43.00
Free shipping via Luxola
Ultra firm and broad for application and blending of cream or liquid foundation
Look pixel-perfect even in harsh light
Ultra-plush, synthetic bristles are hand-cut and 100% cruelty-free
Self-standing for easy storage
Extended aluminum handle is light and easy to use

The brush comes in a transparent plastic box, making the brush perfectly visible. At the back of this box is a photo of 2 women, Sam and Nic Chapman, who are sisters and are the founders of this brand. These women have created makeup video tutorials available on YouTube and have provided wonderful tips for beauty enthusiasts around the world. What a cool duo of makeup lovers!

The brush itself is placed on a white cardboard inside the plastic box. I appreciate this kind of extra protection to ensure that the brush can be shipped to customers in good condition. Some of the more expensive brushes are only protected by plastic cover and I wish those had a bit more protective packaging.

The bristles are synthetic but it feels of high-grade. I’ve been using this brush for more than a month now and I love how it picks up foundation, applies it evenly and comfortably on my face. It is also easy to wash and after several times of washing now, I’ve never seen a strand fall off. It dries quite fast, too.

Getting tips on how to use this brush is also very easy as Real Techniques have videos online that are easy to access and find. You can check out this video where Sam shows 3 different brushes and how to use each.

I love this Real Techniques brush and would be trying more of its makeup brushes!

Mario Badescu Seaweed Night Cream Product Review

Are you sure your skin gets enough hydration while you sleep, specially during cold weather or temperature?

Our skin needs sufficient moisture even while we sleep, specially if you have an air-conditioned room. Without enough moisture on our skin, it is more prone to premature aging, dryness, sensitivity, dullness and formation of fine lines or wrinkles. I definitely don’t want any of that. Of course, I’ve accepted that skin aging is now faster at my age but I’d still want healthy skin and I want it to age ‘gracefully’.

I’ve purchased 2 more Mario Badescu (pronounced bah-des-kooh) items from Luxola: Orange Protective Cream and Seaweed Night Cream. These are my third and fourth items from MB; first 2 are Silver Powder and Temporary Lifting Mask, also purchased from my favorite online beauty shop, Luxola. I loved those 2 products so I continued to explore more items from the same brand.

I was looking for a hydrating and rich-textured moisturiser to use at night because I sleep in air-conditioned room. Seaweed contains natural anti-aging properties, moisturises the skin, and contains essential fatty acids (EFA) that help in maintaining elasticity and suppleness of the skin. I don’t really like eating seaweed but I won’t mind it on my skincare regimen, haha!

Like the other MB products I’ve tried, the Seaweed Night Cream comes in the exact packaging of white plastic jar, capped with white protective seal. The compact jar contains the cream which is almost full to the rim. You need to be a bit careful when removing the seal. Remove it while the jar is on a flat surface to avoid more cream sticking to the seal.

Price: RM77.00
Size: 1 oz
Made in USA
Life after opening – 6 months
Where to buy: www.luxola.com.my

The Seaweed Night Cream comes in a mint green color, owing to the ingredients of this product. It has a rich texture, making it easy to apply evenly on the skin. So don’t worry about the greenish color as it will not show at all after the cream is absorbed. It has a mild scent, not floral or anything, but something that reminds me of lipsticks, which will also dissipate in a minute.

Here’s my face before and after applying MB Seaweed Night Cream for the first time. See that there’s a noticeable shine on the face after application. As mentioned, the cream is rich, and it leaves a film of oil or sheen. So if you have oily skin, I wouldn’t recommend this product as you might feel uncomfortable. I have normal-oily skin combination but air-conditioned rooms tend to make my skin feel dry so this texture is just nice for me overnight.

After 2 weeks of use, I can say that it works great in keeping my skin hydrated and moisturized every night. The product doesn’t promise repair but it did its job of hydration, keeps my skin smooth and protects from early signs of aging. Do you experience waking up to tight, dry skin in the morning? This night cream does wonders overnight.

Julie Hewett Bijou Collection Lip Color

My latest lip colour purchase is a Julie Hewett Bijou Lipstick!

If you’ve read my previous articles about lip colour, you’d know that I don’t really keep a lot of different lip colours. At the moment, I only have around 11 lip colours – 2 MACs, 1 Dior, 1 Inglot and a few other brands, 5 of which are in a cosmetic pouch in my everyday bag. I only used to have 2 lip colours that travel with me so 5 is actually a massive improvement!

A few months ago, I noticed this brand, Julie Hewett, in Luxola and it had interesting lip colours so I decided to give it a try. The Bijou collection had several colours with codes in girls’ names – Lulu, Jacqueline, Simone, and a few more including Celeste. Well, I would have tried ‘Celeste’ but it was in an orange shade which doesn’t work for me. I decided to try the colour Lulu.

Luxola is very efficient in processing orders, I received my Julie Hewett lipstick within 2 days. This lipstick comes in a black box with simple and clean white text.

Julie Hewett Bijou Collection Lipstick

Bought from: Luxola MY

I was looking for rose-pink red shade that will be lighter than my rich red ones. Although I’m in love with my kick-ass red shades, I sometimes need softer tones to complete my look or when I am presenting to senior management or when having a business-changing meeting. Rich red lipsticks can signify a woman of strength but when you have a conservative audience who might feel threatened by domineering personality, a sheer lipstick is a good choice.

The Lulu color is described by Julie Hewett as a luscious passion fruit pink. It is a few shades lighter than my Mac Rihanna and Inglot red lipsticks but darker than my semi-nude Dior lip color.

I love the texture and feel of this lipstick. Because it is formulated with camellia oil, the Bijou Collection lipsticks are hydrating and comfortable on the lips.
I also love the simple, sleek black and silver packaging. It is very compact, slightly smaller than my other lipsticks, making it easier to slide into a smaller cosmetic pouch.
So here’s my look with my new Julie Hewett Lulu lip color (gasp! I just noticed that my lip here before applying lipstick was so dry). With its sheer texture, this lipstick gives my lips a soft dab of color that is wearable everyday and for every occasion. Julie Hewett is definitely a makeup brand that I can easily get addicted to!

And I just learned from the Julie Hewett Facebook page that they are launching this beautiful Camellia Balm in a stick form next week on their website! I don’t think it will have a retail shop in Malaysia soon but I’m looking forward to see it on Luxola.

About Julie Hewett Bijou Collection

Mario Badescu Silver Powder Product Review

Fighting blackheads and whiteheads? Looking for products that will fight those unsightly things on your nose, chin and forehead?
I bought this Mario Badescu a few months ago together with the Temporary Lifting Mask. I find this brand very interesting, with its simple, clinical-like packaging and product names. When I first read the name, I was wondering what in this world is ‘Silver powder’ and what does it do? Does it shimmer? Hmmm…

Like the Temporary Lifting Mask, Mario Badescu Silver Powder also comes in a simple white plastic jar with a white plastic seal upon removing the cap. Before removing the seal, make sure that there’s no fan blowing on your direction. The Silver Powder is the loose type so it can easily be blown by air.
So what is it really for? The Mario Badescu Silver Powder is created to fight excessive, stubborn blackheads. If this brand is something new to you, Romanian-born Mario Badescu who founded his Manhattan skincare salon in 1967 developed this brand under his name. Badescu is a chemist and cosmetologist, and spent years in his laboratory conducting research to develop products for healthy and beautiful skin. His philosophy is that skincare should be simple and gentle yet effective.
Mario Badescu Silver Powder

This oil-absorbent powder helps to unclog congested pores without drying the skin. It prevents blackheads and promotes a healthier complexion.
What it contains (ingredients): Calcium Carbonate, Kaolin, Zinc Oxide (CI 177497)
How do you use it?
Mario Badescu products come in a very simple packaging, no outer box, no complicated instruction leaflet. It is good to keep it simple but I think that the directions are too simplified. For an unconventional product like this, meaning it’s not our usual cleanser or toner or moisturizer, new users might not have the correct idea on how to use a ‘silver powder’.
What the label says: Once or twice a week, dip a water dampened cotton ball into the powder and press on nose, chin and congested areas on the face. Wait 10 minutes and wipe off with toner or astringent.
It didn’t clearly say that you should wash your face before application. Some might think that it’s common sense but some wouldn’t know. Anyway, for me, first step is to cleanse my face before use.

Next step: Dip a wet cotton ball into the jar and apply on targeted areas on your face. This can be tricky as the wet cotton ball may pick up powder unevenly. It can sometimes be very thick especially if the cotton is very wet. Just spread it on a bigger area on your face if you do pick up a lot. Don’t apply under your nose. I’ll explain why in a while.

Take note that since we are dealing with powder here, it can be quite messy as the powder drops on your vanity table. Stay away from fans or windy areas when applying this.
Once you’ve applied the powder, wait between 5 to 10 minutes. Beware; the silver powder will keep dropping as it dries. So don’t lie down on the bed or sofa or cotton seat while doing this. It’s not hard to clean but you don’t want to be spending too much time cleaning up powder. This is also why you shouldn’t apply it under your nose. As it dries, the powder flies and it will go inside your nose, which can be irritating.

Instruction says to wipe it off with toner but it doesn’t work well for me. It can be because I’m using a very gentle toner, I’m not sure. But this is how it looks like after using toner:
Instead of using toner, I prefer to wash it off to make sure that there is no residue. I use my Neutrogena Deep Clean to remove it.

My face feels really great after Silver Powder and washing. And I notice that my pores are very clear and less noticeable, too. There’s an improvement with just one application. If I keep using this once or twice a week, I’m sure there’ll be more visible improvement and I’d be warding off blackheads or whiteheads from coming back. If you’re worried about drying of the skin after using this, I didn’t experience any tingling, tightening or drying sensation with this product.

Although the instruction doesn’t say on the label, I apply my normal day skincare products after using Silver Powder. I continue with my toner, floral water, brightening essence, serum, moisturizer and eye cream.

daily skincare and beauty products for healthy skin
Overall, minus the insufficient direction on the label, I’m happy with this Mario Badescu product. It is reasonably priced, it works well on my skin and it just blends with my skincare regimen. Let’s fight off those blackheads!

Mario Badescu Temporary Lifting Mask Product Review

Interesting name…but can this product really do an immediate, temporary improvement on my face?
I’ve been curious to try this brand since a few months ago and I finally got myself to purchase not just one but two Mario Badescu products. I purchased these 2 items (Silver Powder and Temporary Lifting Mask) at Luxola, the online beauty site that I’m really enjoying delivery service from nowadays. I just love the efficient service and, of course, the enticing promotions.
The Temporary Lifting Mask is a very interesting item as it deems to tighten the skin and minimize pores instantly, although the name clearly says that it’s ‘temporary’. Still, I would want to have a product that can really do that, especially when I have important events to attend, such as weddings, work-related dinners or functions.

The product comes in a simple white plastic jar with a white plastic seal upon removing the cap. After removing the seal, you will see the pink-colored cream mask and will be welcomed with the fragrance of rose. Rose?! Wait, oh no….
Mario Badescu Temporary Lifting Mask
Price: RM53 for 59ml
Made in USA
Life after opening: 6 months
Where to buy: Sephora or at www.luxola.com.my
I didn’t check the full ingredients before purchasing the Temporary Lifting Mask! I actually have this skin reaction to face products that contain rose, except for 2 brands that I’ve tested: Perricone MD and Talika Paris. These 2 have products that contain rose but thankfully have not caused my skin to react adversely. Should I bravely try a Mario Badescu product that contains ‘rose’?
One of the things I do when I have fear of skin reaction to a certain product is ‘patch testing’, just the personal way of doing it, not the laboratory type. I either apply on the pulse of my wrist, meaning that soft area where you can feel your pulse, or behind the ears. And so I did BOTH, and left the cream there for an hour, since this is only a mask. If you’re testing a moisturizer or toner, or anything meant to be absorbed by the skin, it’s best to leave it overnight to check reactions.

Like most cream masks, the Mario Badescu Temporary Lifting Mask (TLM) also has a thick texture but easy to apply on the skin.
Well, I didn’t have skin reaction on my wrist or behind my ears after testing. So I braved the ‘rose content’ and applied the TLM on my face after washing. It starts as a light rose color on the face. I would have applied the mask on my entire face but since this is the first time, I’d better reduce my risk and focus on pore-problem areas to test the effects.

After 10 minutes, the color of the mask turned to pinkish rose color. It has a mild tingling or tightening feel, which I really liked. It made me feel that the product is working…
After rinsing with lukewarm water, here is the difference…

RIGHT: After Mario Badescu Temporary Lifting Mask

First of all, thank goodness my skin didn’t react violently to the rose content.
After using the mask for the first time, I feel the difference on my pore-problem areas: smoother, softer and pores are less visible. Lifting might be hard to notice and I also didn’t apply it to my entire face BUT my skin felt tight and fresh. I love the feel of my skin right after using this mask! I’m not a believer of masks before until I’ve tried several good ones and this Mario Badescu product is now another trusted one.
Definitely will continue to use this, maybe 3 times a month and enjoy the immediate results!

Luxola Online Beauty Shopping Experience

I’ve been a frequent online shopper for the past few years in Malaysia and I only came to realize that I haven’t blogged about any of my online shopping experience so here’s my first one!

I’m sure you’ve heard of Luxola or maybe noticed their ads online, on Facebook and other blogs. As I’ve mentioned in my other articles, I’m a bit reluctant when it comes to buying beauty products, specially the ‘perishable’ ones, via websites as I have concerns on how it will be delivered and I don’t want my beauty items to go through intense heat or careless handling. But I was looking for some makeup tools a few weeks ago so when I noticed their Facebook ad announcing Mother’s Day Sale, I decided to do some online beauty shopping. And here’s my first beauty loot from Luxola:

Let’s take a look at the lovely items I received.

DuWop Payoff Eyeshadow Intensifier

First is this interesting product that I never knew existed — DuWop Payoff Eyes Eye shadow Intensifier (RM65.00). I was surprised that there is such a product to make your normal eye shadow turn into a creamy texture with a more vibrant color. Made in USA and comes in a plastic bottle with a dropper. With this item, you can turn those forgotten eye shadows new again, according to reviews. Plus it will make your eye shadow last longer all day.

Tweezerman Classic Lash Curler

I also got a Tweezerman Classic Lash Curler (RM50.50) that comes in a hard transparent plastic box, making it very secure and safe for delivery. It is made in Japan and comes with extra 3 non-stick silicone replacement pads. I haven’t used a lash curler in a long time but now that I’m using mascaras again, I decided to have one. I’ve started using it and works well for me. It is comfortable to hold and does a good job in curling my stubborn lashes.

Crazy Rumors Red Velvet 100% Natural Lip Balm

I love lip balms. At any given time, I would have 3 different lip balms around: 1 at home that I apply every night, 1 in the office that I apply mid-day and 1 inside my handbag. I saw this deliciously named lip balm, Crazy Rumors Red Velvet 100% Natural Lip Balm, with a small sketch of a cake on the label. And it’s only RM17. It’s an interesting lip balm flavor at a good price so I quickly added to my cart.

Zoeva 101 Luxe Face Definer

And the main purpose of this batch of shopping — makeup brushes! I wanted to have a contour brush but a lot of the contour brushes were out-of-stock that time. Anyway, I saw this Zoeva Luxe Face Definer (RM81.50), which can be used for foundation, blush and contouring. The reviews were great and it looks suitable for what I need. I was impressed when it arrived because the bristles feel and look good. The handle is in a sexy, sleek black and silver combination. Grip is also comfortable so I’m excited to start using this. This Zoeva brush comes with a plastic zip bag, which makes it convenient to bring while traveling.

Sigma Small Tapered Blending Brush E45

I also got myself this Sigma Small Tapered Blending Brush (RM50.50) for eye shadow application. My makeup routine is very much concentrated on my eyes so I have this addiction for getting more eye makeup brushes. This brush also feels and looks good in its black and silver handle. The bristles are fine and shaped appropriately for shading.

Now I have 2 new makeup brushes to add to my entire collection. Do you think I have enough? Most of these are for eye makeup application. I’m open to suggestions so feel free to suggest a brush that you love to use!
I have accepted that I am an online shopaholic. If I remember it right, the first time I made an online item purchase was for a black designer bag from US a few years back. And I’ve done a lot of online shopping since then: Groupon, MyDeal, Lazada, Lelong, MySale, Sereni & Shentel, Photobook, Sally Fashion and probably others that I just can’t recall.
I am pretty impressed with the service of Luxola. Their updates are very fast. I ordered on a late night then early next morning, I already received an update informing that my products have been shipped, which also came with a tracking number. And on the 3rd day, I received my Luxola items.

The packing was also good, which eased my hesitation when ordering beauty items online for delivery. The Luxola items were packed generously in bubble wraps, protecting it from heat and shock. Why should you be concerned with shock, anyway? If you ordered powder foundation or eye shadows, the last thing you would want is to receive them in shattered or broken condition. So, yes, your beauty parcel should be shockproof.

If you are looking for beauty products, especially affordable makeup tools, I highly recommend www.luxola.com.my for your needs. They have fast and reliable service, good products and good prices. By the way, they also launched this weekly promo, We Love Wow Wednesdays!, where 20+ items will be on sale at 75% off every Wednesday. What a great deal!
